Dr Giles is a cataract, medical retina and oculoplastic specialist. He provides his specialist services at the Vision Eye Institute, Footscray.
Dr Giles gained his medical degree from the University of Sheffield, UK and continued to work there to gain his ophthalmology training until he became a Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists UK.
After completing his core curriculum Dr Giles undertook further advanced training. He completed two one-year Fellowships in Sheffield, the first in oculoplastics and the second in medical retina. During his oculoplastic fellowship he gained extensive experience in the treatment of eyelid malpositions, lacrimal problems, tumour diagnosis, excision and reconstruction techniques and upper lid blepharoplasties.
During the medical retina Fellowship, he was heavily involved in the treatment of age-related macular degeneration with Lucentis and Diabetic Retinopathy with both intravitreal therapies and laser.
Prior to relocating to Australia to join Vision Group, Dr Giles worked as a Locum Consultant Ophthalmologist in Sheffield. Dr Giles has been consulting at Vision Eye Institute, Footscray since October 2008.
