Dr Elizabeth Hagen specialises in managing common eye conditions such as glaucoma, lid tumours and cataracts.
From her consulting rooms in Vision Eye Institute, Coolangatta, Dr Hagen offers comprehensive services to patients, with access to the latest technology in diagnostics for glaucoma and cataract management. She operates at Vision Eye Institute Coolangatta and Murwillumbah Hospital, providing both private and public patients access to state-of-the-art cataract surgery.
Dr Hagen spent her childhood in Brisbane and the Gold Coast, after which her parents moved to New Zealand. In the early 1980s, she undertook her basic training in Auckland, graduating in 1987. She completed her Fellowship training as a specialist through the Australian College of Ophthalmology in 1995. After working for a time as an eye specialist on the Gold Coast, she undertook a further 12 month Advanced Fellowship in Oculoplastic Surgery at the prestigious Moorfields Eye Hospital in London.
In 1996, Dr Hagen returned home to the Gold Coast, resuming practice in Coolangatta. From here, she worked full time providing comprehensive eye care to patients from Robina to the Tweed Valley, managing common eye conditions such as glaucoma, lid tumours and cataracts.
Along with her family, Dr Hagen enjoys the outdoors, particularly camping and sailing. Her interest in vision goes well beyond her job, too – her enthusiasm for this area has no doubt contributed to her also becoming an award-winning amateur photographer.
