Dr Mark Jacobs is a general ophthalmologist with interests in femtosecond laser cataract surgery, glaucoma management and paediatric ophthalmology. He provides his specialist services at Vision Eye Institute, Drummoyne.
After qualifying as an ophthalmic surgeon at Sydney Eye Hospital in 1989, Dr Jacobs worked in London where he was a fellow at the Hospital for Sick Children and Moorfields Eye Hospital. At present he is a conjoint senior lecturer at the University of New South Wales and a staff specialist at Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick.
Dr Jacobs has 23 publications in peer-reviewed ophthalmology journals and has presented papers at international ophthalmology meetings. He was a reviewer for the Australian and New Zealand Journal of Ophthalmology as well as the Ophthalmic Research Institute of Australia. After qualifying as an ophthalmologist he attained the degree of doctorate in medicine (MD- University of New South Wales) for original research of an international standing. At present he is a co-supervisor of a PhD thesis student.
Dr Jacobs is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists, Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, and the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (United Kingdom).
Dr Jacobs is married to Jennifer and has 2 adult children. Swimming, pilates, walking, gardening, travelling and reading are his other interests.
