Dr Devinder Chauhan specialises in vitreoretinal disease.

Dr Devinder Chauhan studied medicine at Guy’s Hospital Medical School in London and has been an ophthalmologist since 1991, training at the most highly regarded centres the UK and Australia. He worked as a locum consultant vitreoretinal surgeon in the Birmingham and Midland Eye Centre, the second largest eye hospital in the United Kingdom. Since settling in Melbourne in 2006 he has built up a thriving practice specializing in both medical and surgical retinal conditions.

Dr Chauhan is an active member of the Oceania Retinal Association and continues his professional development through regularly attending and presenting at meetings in Australia and overseas. As well as enjoying teaching optometrists, junior doctors and orthoptists, Devinder feels that a vital part of his work is engaging patients and helping them understand their conditions fully.

Devinder’s MD research thesis was on the interpretation of Optical Coherence Tomography images and their application to retinal disease. Devinder has presented his work at conferences in Europe, the USA and Australasia as well as publishing in the highest ranked ophthalmic journals. He is currently in the process of setting up clinical research studies using leading edge technologies to treat macular diseases such as age-related macular degeneration, diabetes and retinal vein occlusions.

He enjoys food, coffee and competitive tennis and hockey.
