Dr Lewis Levitz is an experienced surgeon who specialises in cataract, oculoplastic and general ophthalmology.
Trained in South Africa, he became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2000. Dr Levitz completed a fellowship in oculoplastic surgery at the University Hospital of Wales in the UK in 2005. IN 2009, he became a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists.
Dr Levitz is a founding member of the South African Oculoplastic Society. He has published letters and articles in five Index Medicus Journals including the British Journal of Ophthalmology, the Journal of the American Association of Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, the South African Medical Journal, Ophthalmic Surgery Laser and Imaging Journal and the Journal of Clinical & Experimental Ophthalmology. He was awarded a Masters thesis on the topic of orbital implants in 2007.
Dr Levitz has been awarded the prestigious Muthusamy medal for outstanding achievement, awarded by the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, for the years 1999/2000. He has received the following Awards:
